Details
A volunteer-run free e-book project founded in 1971; its homepage lists 79,732 titles (checked November 2026). The collection centres on works whose U.S. copyright has expired — classic literature, history and older scholarship. Everything is free with no registration: read online, or download EPUB, Kindle and plain-text editions. Scope, stated plainly: its copyright judgements follow U.S. law, and status can differ in other countries; new and bestselling books are not here, so do not come looking for contemporary titles. Who it's for
Readers of classic literature in the original English, and anyone who needs public-domain source text for content or research.
18btc Crypto Tools Navigator · Our Take
“Excellent for classics and public-domain text: large, multi-format and barrier-free, and a far more respectable source than pirate sites. Its limits are equally clear — expired-copyright works only, judged by U.S. rules — so verify local copyright status before commercial publication or distribution elsewhere.”
