Details
AO3 (Archive of Our Own) is an archive for fanworks, run by the non-profit Organization for Transformative Works (OTW). It is funded by donations and maintained by volunteers, carries no advertising, and charges nothing to read or post. Fan fiction, fan art, audio and video works can all be published and searched here, and its tagging system is the signature feature: works are tagged by fandom, characters, pairings, themes and rating, so readers can combine filters — or exclude tags they do not want to see. Works can be downloaded as EPUB, MOBI, PDF or HTML for offline reading, and organised into series and collections. Listing notes: registering an account requires waiting for an invitation (guests can read most public works right away); creative freedom on the site is broad and quality varies, so use the ratings and warning tags to steer; the interface is mainly English, but works exist in many languages, Chinese included.
Who it's for
Fanwork writers and readers, and anyone who wants to hunt stories by fine-grained tags or follow serial updates.

“Listing notes: free reading, no ads and volunteer-run — a rare combination on today's internet. Its tagging is the finest-grained in its class; learn the include and exclude filters first and you will find stories far faster than by scrolling lists.”
