Upscayl
A free, open-source AI image upscaler: enlarge photos 2x–16x locally — no watermark, no uploads.
Visit tool →Details
Originally named Upscayl, it is a free, open-source AI image upscaler for the desktop (AGPL-3.0, ~52K stars on GitHub): local Real-ESRGAN and other AI models enlarge images 2x–16x and fill in detail, all on your own machine — no watermark, no uploads, no per-image fees. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, handles single images or batches, and gives old photos, low-res screenshots and blurry downloads a second chance. Listing notes: it is a desktop app, not a web tool, and the upscaling needs GPU compute — a Vulkan-compatible GPU, integrated or discrete; very old machines may fail or crawl. AI upscaling invents plausible detail, so a hopelessly blurred image still can't yield real information.
Who it's for
Anyone with old photos, low-res screenshots or blurry images to enlarge, and e-commerce or social-media creators who need small images bigger without uploading them to an online service.
18btc Crypto Tools Navigator · Our Take
“Listing notes: models run locally — no uploads, no watermark — which is cleaner than online upscalers, and batch mode is handy. The price is installing software and feeding it a GPU; if your machine lacks Vulkan support, check the compatibility notes on its site first.”
