Details

CyberChef is an open-source web tool developed and maintained by the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) (Apache-2.0, about 36k GitHub stars, checked 2026-11-04). It turns 400+ data operations into draggable “recipes” — Base64, URL encoding, hex, XOR, AES/DES encryption, hashing, compression, JWT parsing, regex extraction and more: drag a few operations into a chain, paste your input and watch the output update live. Its Magic operation even guesses the recipe for multi-layer nested encodings. All core processing runs locally in your browser, so your input is never sent to a server — with two honest caveats: the officially hosted page itself carries an analytics request, so for genuinely sensitive material prefer the downloadable offline build or a self-hosted copy, and the project itself states its cryptographic operations should not be relied on for real security. Entry note: our link points to the officially hosted online version, ready with no install.

Who it's for

Security analysts, developers and CTF players who live among encodings, logs and tokens — plus anyone who occasionally needs to peel apart a multi-layer encoding, peek inside a JWT or hash something.

18btc Crypto Tools Navigator · Our Take

“This site’s own dev toolbox covers the twenty everyday jobs, but for peeling multi-layer encodings or deobfuscating a string out of a suspicious sample, this is the tool — the Magic operation guessing the recipe for you genuinely saves time.”
