Details
Freqtrade is an open-source crypto trading bot written in Python (GPL-3.0, about 56k GitHub stars, still updated on the day we checked, 2026-11-03). Write your strategy as a Python class and it connects to major exchanges such as Binance, OKX and Bybit (through the unified ccxt interface) for spot and futures: backtest on historical data first, validate with a dry-run that trades fake money, and only then switch to live trading. It ships with a web dashboard, FreqUI, for positions, charts and profit/loss, can be remote-controlled over Telegram, and includes FreqAI for machine-learning parameter tuning. It cannot run inside this page — you deploy it yourself on an always-on computer or server and plug in your own exchange API keys. Plainly stated: a bot is an execution tool, not a profit guarantee; always backtest and dry-run before going live, and never enable withdrawals on the API key. Entry note: the project's homepage currently returns 404, so our link points to its officially maintained documentation site, where installation and strategy docs live.
Who it's for
Quant-minded traders with some Python who want to automate their own strategies instead of handing funds and API keys to a closed-source paid bot.
18btc Crypto Tools Navigator · Our Take
“It is the most battle-tested open-source option in this space: backtest, dry-run, then small money live — reverse that order and the bot just helps you lose faster.”
